Always a dedicated champion of local and independent film, The Bioscope at 44 Stanley is arguably the best place in Joburg to support independent South African filmmaking. The latest local film hosting special screenings at The Bioscope is Jaco Bouwer's award-winning horror film Gaia, that recently won Best Film at the Silverskerem film festival.

A creepy cultish religion, strange post-human beings, and of course a deserted cabin in the woods, all feature prominently in this creative ecological horror fantasy that turns Mother Nature, into Monster Nature.
