FNB Joburg Art Fair 2018

This year marks the eleventh edition of the FNB Joburg Art Fair and the selection of international exhibitors taking part is bigger than ever and includes more than 60 galleries and collectives from Angola, Ethiopia, Ghana, Mozambique, Namibia, Nigeria, South Africa, Uganda and Zimbabwe.
Among this year's special solo projects look out for exhibitions by: South African photographer Roger Ballen, sculptural artist, performer and textile designer Mark Rautenbach, Ethiopian photographer Aida Muluneh, best known for her iconic, boldly coloured self-portraits, this year's Featured Artist Malawian-born Billie Zangewa, who uses raw silk off-cuts to create intricate hand-stitched collages in flat and a powerful new immersive installation about the Marikana Massacre by this year's FNB Art Prize winner Haroon Gunn-Salie.
As well as the incredible selection of contemporary art on display, the fair also promises an exciting programme of art talks led by leading curators, academics, artists and gallerists, as well as performances and film screenings. On Sat Sep 8 check out the free FNB Art Fair art talks programme at the Auto & General Theatre on the Square, a short walk from the Convention Centre. Highlights of the free talks programme include a panel discussion on the future of art museums (at 14:00), a talk with this year's Featured Artist Featured Artist Billie Zangewa (at 15:15) and a world premiere screening (at 17:30) of the latest episode of the popular series Art in the Twenty-First Century, which focuses exclusively on Johannesburg.
