The 42nd edition of the Durban International Festival (DIFF) goes online this year with all films at the festival available to stream in South Africa for free from Thursday July 22 to Sunday August 1 via the official website durbanfilmfest.com.

This year's programme presents close to 140 diverse feature and documentary films from local and international directors.

Among the many many highlights is Murder in Paris a documentary film tracing the motives for the assassination of anti-Apartheid activist Dulcie September, Brazilian director Cássio Pereira dos Santos's drama Valentina about a trans girl and her mother's challenges of moving to a new town, Malian documentary film The Last Shelter about the infamous House of Migrants on the edge of the Sahara and Sons of the Sea a South African drama about a poor teenager from a fishing community who is pressured to steal a bag of illegal abalone from a dead man.
