When Design Week South Africa meets Transportation Month, we get... a street experiment! On Fri, Oct 11 from 13:00 to 15:00 the future of Joburg is reimagined at 37 Bath Avenue, Rosebank. Jointly organised by Young Urbanists and Rosebank Management District, this 'street activation experiment' will take the form of discussions, demonstrations, temporary installations such as cones and crosswalks, and interactive 'guerilla activities' (that include neon pedestrian figures made from balloons).

Creativity is key, and at this event, the endless innovation of Joburgers is used to promote safer streets, more vibrant public spaces, and easier access for pedestrians. The focus is on finding new ways to interact with public roads, all for the purposes of transforming the city into a place that serves everyone.

As part of an ongoing project by City of Joburg and #gorosebank to create more walkable and accessible streets, this activity promises to be an inspiration to anyone who loves the city and wants to be part of creating more community-friendly spaces. Whether you're a local resident, an urban design enthusiast, a pedestrian, or simply curious about how cities can be transformed through creative intervention, this family-friendly event is open to everyone.

The experiment requires some walking, so grab your hat, sunscreen, walking shoes, and water, and join other enthusiastic Joburgers to help create a better city for all.
