As part of the exhibition about the death of Black Consciousness leader Steve Biko <a href="http://inyourpocket.com/johannesburg/19-days-in-september-a-chronicle-of-the-death-of_9410e"><em>19 Days in September</em></a>, the <a href="https://www.inyourpocket.com/johannesburg/sophiatown-the-mix_123392v">Sophiatown The Mix </a>community centre (which adjoins the excellent house museum dedicated to the memory of the 1955 forced removals) hosts a special free film screening of the 1987 Richard Attenborough film <em>Cry Freedom.<br />

Cry Freedom </em>is set in late 1970s South Africa<em> </em>and centres on the real-life events involving black activist Steve Biko and his friend Donald Woods. A young Denzel Washington plays the role of the late Steve Biko and Kevin Kline plays the white newspaper editor Donald Woods.
