Attewell engages with the concept of rain shadows, a landform that has become desertified due to mountain ranges blocking rain clouds from the landscape. The result is an abundance of plant life on one side of the mountain and an absence of it on the other. Attewell uses this concept to look at both our current ecological crisis as well as the divide of wealth and poverty in human history. The conceptual videos on show are paired with sounds and music recorded by Attewell and West to create an immersive experience which turns the gallery into a space for reflection.
