Leading South African jazz conductor and composer Richard Cock leads the Symphony Choir of Johannesburg and the Johannesburg Festival Orchestra in this special performance of German composer Carl Orff’s cantata Carmina Burana. Founded in 1947 as the SABC Choir, the Symphony Choir of Johannesburg celebrates its 38th year under Cock’s leadership since their reinvention in 1980. Comprised of key members from the former National Symphony Orchestra, the Johannesburg Festival Orchestra made its debut in 1998 and have played alongside international classical music icons including none other than Pavarotti.
