Carlos Garaicoa is a Cuban artist whose practice focuses on the connected histories between Latin America and Africa, with him bridging the gap between the two. His latest exhibition at Goodman Gallery, GOQA, features a new body of photographs taken in Johannesburg which he has placed alongside works looking at contexts within Cuba, Angola and South Africa. The exhibition provides insights into the way buildings influence art, urban space and the people within it. By comparing urban spaces across the Global South, Garaicoa's photographs are invaluable in a growing discourse around how we shape our spaces.
