Master bassist and composer <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DAT1ohzId3k">Carlo Mombelli</a> is one of South Africa’s most impressive jazz innovators. He is joined on stage this weekend at Joburg's leading jazz club <a href="https://www.inyourpocket.com/johannesburg/the-orbit_126865v">The Orbit</a> by drummer Tumi Mogorosi, pianist Kyle Shepherd and vocalist Mbuso Khoza.<br />

Mombelli is set to perform new and past works, including pieces from his celebrated album <em>I Press My Spine To The Ground</em>, described by BBC Radio Three as "…hauntingly beautiful South African music woven with improvisations, soundscapes and poetry" and chosen as one of the radio station's <a href="http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/articles/1kKy56yZYw6dcwtlx2hbBJy/the-late-junction-albums-of-2016">12 best albums of 2016</a>.
