Directed by Magdalene Minnaar and conducted by Adam Szmidt, the production promises to be an unmissable event, transporting you to 19th-century Rome and the world of Tosca by Giacomo Puccini. A story of love, passion and treachery, watch it unravel around the tempestuous diva Floria Tosca, her devoted lover Mario Cavaradossi, and the infamous police chief Baron Scarpia. Considered one of the greatest operas, expect Puccini’s powerful tragedy to leave you in awe.
In addition to collaboration between Cape Town Opera (one of South Africa’s largest permanent, non-profit performing arts organisations) and Johannesburg Philharmonic Orchestra, the performance includes an exceptional line-up of soloists. They include soprano Nobulumko Mngxekeza, tenor Lukhanyo Moyake, baritone Conroy Scott, and baritone Lwazi Dlamini, a rising star hailing from Eswatini who joined the Cape Town Opera's prestigious Judith Neilson Young Artist Programme in 2021.
