When they say it's traditional they mean it. Just like the guild pizza restaurants of Naples, Café 28 imports ingredients from Italy to ensure the perfect slice – pillowy dough, feather-light, with a wide array of toppings. Of course, there's also a great selection of Italian beers to go with it. The pizza menu is extensive here and there are lots of special varieties, with Napolitana sauce or without, with cheese or without. Fior de latte rather than stringy mozzarella is standard, already raising the bar of pizza served at Café 28.
Located within the Inanda Greens Office Park, Café 28 opened in 2016. At the pizza oven is Andrea Giromini, born in Piedmont, a northwest region in Italy hailed for autumn truffles, fine wines, and vast mountain ranges. His passion for food was ignited at an early age – "when the family would gather around the table laden with a vast array of home-cooked meals prepared by his mamma". He pursued his love of cooking by training on the Amalfi Coast and specialised in the craft of making Neapolitan pizza, famous the world over. We're just happy he decided to grace this city with his pizza-making skills.
We strongly recommend you reserve your table well in advance as weekends here tend to get busy.
