For book lovers and collectors all roads lead to Rand Club on May 1 where they are hosting a Book Day in the grand halls of this magnificent heritage landmark. The day is filled with talks, tours of the building and book stalls from a range of vintage and second-hand booksellers, as well as from Bridge Books and James Findlay Collectable Books and Maps who both have shops at Rand Club.

There are talks happening throughout the day covering a wide range of topics, as well as book readings and a photography exhibition by photojournalists Alun Skuy and James Oatway. Events on the Book Day programme include:

09:00–09: 45 Rand Club Art and Maps Tour with James Findlay
10:00–10:30 James Findlay’s Rare Finds at the Rand Club Buckland Library
11:00–11:45 Leading South African photojournalists Alun Skuy and James Oatway discuss their work and the exhibition The Portfolio [BR]OTHER
12:00–12:45 Book launch discussion Our Long Walk to Economic Freedom by Johan Fourie
13:00–13:45 Winner of the 2020 Africondo Short Stories from Africa prize, Jarred Thompson, discusses his work with Phillippa Yaa de Villiers and Cynthia Kistasamy
14:00 – 14:30 Book launch discussion Crosshaired Harald Sitta
