<p>The annual Basha Uhuru Freedom Festival at Constitution Hill celebrates South African youth culture and creativity through a packed programme of art, music, fashion and film events. Entrance to all Basha Uhuru events is free.<br /> <br /> <strong>Wed June 21 from 18:00</strong> <em><strong>Conversations of Freedom creative industries conference </strong>A<strong> </strong></em>PechaKucha style presentation 12 inspirational speakers speaking to 20 slides which are shown for 20 seconds each.<em> Speakers include </em>architect and spatial designer Lorenzo Nassimbeni, entrepreneur Bheki Dube, artist Anthea Moys and photographer Kgomotso Tleane. Please note that this event is now fully booked.<br /> <br /> <strong>Thu June 22 from 17:00</strong> <strong><em>Expressions of Freedom art exhibition</em></strong><br /> The<em> Expressions of Freedom</em> exhibition features work by young established and upcoming artists. Works presented include Lee-Roy Jason’s series <em>#EverythingMustFall</em>, a body of photographs exploring the recent student riots, and the power of social media to motivate freedom. The exhibition remains on show at Constitution Hill until June 30.<br /> <br /> <strong>Fri June 23 from 17:30</strong> <strong><em>Visions of Freedom film festival</em></strong><br /> A showcase of new locally produced films by made by young African filmmakers including the recent Soweto 1976 documentary <em>Uprize </em>and the biopic <em>Kalushi</em>. <em>Kalushi </em>tells the devastating life story of the young freedom fighter Solomon Kalushi Mahlangu. A moving film about bravery and sacrifice, <em>Kalushi</em> follows Mahlangu’s life, from his exile following the 1976 Soweto uprising to his arrest and trial.<br /> <br /> <strong>Sat June 24</strong> <strong>from 12:00</strong> <strong><em>Sounds of Freedom music festival</em></strong><br /> This free musical festival presents two stages - the Nandos stage and the Afropunk stage with a host of exciting alternative local bands playing all day.
