Art and design exhibitions. Head to the Women's Jail for the opening night of the festival's art and design exhibitions. This year there are three main exhibitions: Queer Action: Moments of Resistance from the Archive, #i a public art poster exhibition conceptualised by globally renowned South African photographer Jodi Bieber in collaboration with 45 young Joburgers and the Nando's Creative Exchange Exhibition.

Basha Bacha Creative Collisions. This two day 'Creative Summit' is centred around inspiration, engagment and entrepreneurship in the creative economy and brings together an inspiring group of young, creative, urban artists, designers, stylists and photographers. Film screenings. Catch the screenings of two major contemporary South African films; the documentary film The People vs The Patriarchy and the thrilling modern western Five Fingers for Marseilles. The film screenings are followed by a discussion led by actors and directors from the two films.

Poetry Fest. Catch six of the finest young South African poets performing live including Flo Mokale, Wazi Kunene and Modise Sekgothe.

Freedom Music Festival. On the music festival line-up local acts include singer, composer and producer Samthing Soweto, one of the founding members of South Africa’s favourite acapella group The Soil, rising-star rapper Sho Madjozi and artists from Nando's Music Exchange programme Joshua The I AM and MUZI. Other acts to look out for include SAMA award-winning afro-house duo Black Motion, legendary kwaito group Skwatta Kamp, seven-piece afro-psychedelic band BCUC (Bantu Continua Uhuru Consciousness) who are firm Joburg favourites and young rising star jazz singer Zoe Modiga.
