Goodman Gallery presents the latest works made by South African artist Walter Oltmann who is famous for his intricate wire sculptures and wall hangings.

Depicted in drawings, prints, paintings and extraordinarily detailed wire sculptures Oltmann creates a magical world inhabited by a variety of armoured suits and armoured animals such as the Sungazer lizard and the African pangolin. Just as in the Medieval manuscripts or "bestiaries" that were illustrated in gold and silver leaf by monks, so too in his anodized aluminium wire structures Oltmann has chosen to illuminate his subjects with copper leaf and fold and silver coloured wires.
