Award-winning South African director Uga Carlini’s celebrated docu-drama is showing at The Bioscope in Maboneng as part of the annual 16 Days of Activism campaign. The film follows the story of Alison Botha, who was abducted, brutally raped and stabbed and left for dead by the side of a road in 1994. Despite her grave injuries the 27 year old Alison survived the attack and went on to dedicate her life to helping other survivors of brutal attacks to overcome their traumatic experiences. A deeply personal and triumphant story of a woman who refused to become a victim, the film looks at the on-going effects of trauma and the power of hope.
