Monika Lauferts&nbsp;le Roux&nbsp;and Judith&nbsp;Mavunganidze have produced the first comprehensive publication detailing&nbsp;the history of Johannesburg&#39;s gas works. The&nbsp;Egoli&nbsp;Gas building on Annet Road, now abandoned,&nbsp;played an integral part in the city&#39;s development.&nbsp;The launch of the book <em>The&nbsp;Johannesburg Gas Works&nbsp;</em>provides an insight into the history of the building going back to 1927, with photographs and drawings of the interior and essays on the architecture, raising questions about the future of this looming structure.&nbsp;
