As part of the monthly First Thursdays event, Newtown Junction hosts this Literary Evening, the first in a new series of regular book events. Join author and editor&nbsp;Bongani Madondo&nbsp;for an evening dedicated to the late Brenda Fassie, a music legend.&nbsp;Madondo will be reading from his book <em>I&#39;m Not Your Weekend Special</em>, a collection of reminiscences, criticism, elegies, essays and appreciation by friends, Fassie&#39;s&nbsp;ex-lovers, critics, poets, academics and musicians, reflecting the endless and boundary-crossing legacy of this&nbsp;inimitable South African pop music icon.<br /> <br /> Madondo will also be interviewing friends and acquaintances of the late MaBrrr and the audience will get to hear new stories from those who knew and loved her. Following the talk there&#39;s time for wine and discussion plus some great music to enjoy and books to buy.&nbsp;<br /> <br /> Starts 18:30. Entrance is free.
