Built in the northern suburbs following the deconsecration of the historic Great Synagogue on Wolmarans Street, Hillbrow, the architecture pays tribute to the original synagogue built in 1914 that was traditionally the seat of the Chief Rabbi. The building incorporates many of the original fittings into its design along with stained glass windows designed by artist Judith Mason whose work can also be seen at the Constitutional Court. There is also a rich after-hours cultural programme offered.
