Chocolate and comfort food are the listed passions of chef and owner Rachel Botes, who studied law but found inspiration in food with the purchase of a chef's jacket from the former Carlton Hotel at a jumble sale. The decor is fresh, and a herb garden rings the cafe. Deli items for order (three days in advance) include tart tatines, lasagne, pies, a superb array of salads and a range of signature cheesecakes. You can also order a deluxe gourmet picnic basket for two hungry adults complete with bio-degradeable plates, pink peppercorns and bamboo cutlery.
