Spread some love and warmth this month by joining in the worldwide 67 Blankets knitathon and help make warm knitted blankets for the less privileged. 67 Blankets was founded in 2014 and holds the Guinness World Record for the Largest Crotchet Blanket in the World (measuring over 17 000 square metres). The initiative was inspired by Nelson Mandela's 67 years of public service (hence the name) and every year across the world thousands of handmade blankets are donated to the needy, while the scheme also encourages people from all walks of life, including ex-convicts, to play a positive role in their community by joining in the knitting effort.<br /> <br /> On Sun April 23 67 Blankets hosts two 'hook up day' events in Joburg where knitters can get together and knit for a good cause. Guests are welcome to bring their own picnic baskets.
