Not every taxi car is painted yellow in Heraklion. Still, the cabs are easily recognized by the sign. The average price for a start is about 3.50 Euro and approximately 1.50 Euro per kilometer. Reaching from Nikos Kazantzakis airport to the center of the city will typically cost about 15 Euro (or little more) depending on the carrier and the route. Most of the taxis will take you to other towns on Crete like Rethymno or Agios Nikolaos, but you will have to splash a much more considerable amount of cash (50 to 200 Euro) to enjoy the luxurious travel.
