Twenty bus lines are operating within the city and in the near vicinity. You can reach the famous Knossos getting on the city bus (line 2). Heraklion has an extensive network of public transportation active from 6 AM up to an hour or less before midnight. The waiting is usually no longer than 10 minutes. Tickets are available to buy at most of the kiosks near the bus stops – the price ranges between 1.50 and 2.00 Euro depending on the route. Purchasing a ticket from the driver is an option too, but it costs more.
