Situated in central Helsinki, between the Esplanade Park and the South Harbour, the Market Square (Kauppatori) is one of the liveliest and most famous outdoor markets in northern Europe, offering scenic views of the Baltic Sea and making a good stop for those taking the ferry to Suomenlinna and the other archipelago islands. Open year-round, Kauppatori features stalls and shops selling everything from traditional Finnish delights and freshly caught fish to handicrafts and flowers. An amazing place to get a true taste of Finland and fill your belly for all the sightseeing ahead! But the old cobbled streets are uneven, so be careful when browsing the stalls and greeting the vendors, particularly in winter!
