Brilliant. Wilhelm Busch was born on April 15, 1832 in the village of Wiedensahl not far from Hanover. A painter, cartoonist and poet he is generally believed to be the inventor of the cartoon strip, and this wonderful museum is dedicated to both his life and the history of cartoons. Examples of his work are on permanent display alongside other cartoons including temporary exhibtions of the best of the art form. A confirmed bachelour, Busch died on January 9, 1908, a major celebrity who never understood what the fuss was all about.
