The mass of horticulture excellence known as the Herrenhausen Gärten, is comprised of four gardens, the summary of which have been altered since the 17th century. Between the 17th and 19th centuries, 135 hectares were commissioned by Hanoverian Electors and Kings to create the Grosser Garten, Georgengarten, Berggarten, and Welfengarten - the four Herrenhausen Gardens. Do not let the Gärten’s age fool you-this estate is modern and not just for plant lovers. You can enjoy a variety of stylistic garden arts- French style baroque horticulture, the English landscaped garden and the botanical garden. Or, enjoy provisions in the restaurant, Schlossküche which is maintained by Mövenpick. The Grosser Garten is the largest baroque garden in Germany and the Berggarten is one of the oldest botanical gardens in Germany. As well as greenhouses with the largest collection of orchids in Europe, the rainforest house is also worth visiting.
