'HAJ' is a well-planned, clean and efficient airport with decent services available. All signs in English and German. Visit Bosselmann for tasty but moderately priced sandwiches if hunger growls.
S-Bahn line S5 goes from the central railway station to the airport in 12 minutes and a ticket costs €2, 50. A door-to-door shuttle service is offered by Flughafen Transfer Hannover (tel. 977 26 45, www.efa.de), available 24 hours daily. A taxi ride from the centre of town usually costs €25. Ask the driver for a flat rate.
