The world's biggest warehouse complex is an awesome hotchpotch of waterways, cobbled streets and red brick Hanseactic buildings dating from 1885 to 1927. Originally built between 1885 and 1888 at the cost of 20,000 people's homes, as well as housing some of the best museums in the city including its very own Speicherstadt Museum, Speicherstadt ("Warehouse City") is currently undergoing massive development work and is fast becoming the number one trendy place to be, with lots of new six-figure apartments and swanky bars. You can take a boat tour around the complex.
