Groningen's city centre is a driver's nightmare, with plenty of one-way streets and high parking charges. Parking on the street costs €2,30 per hour in the centre, with a maximum time of 30-60 minutes. There are 13 parking garages in and directly around the city centre, charging €1,50-2,50 per hour, or €12-21 per day. The most central parking garage is at Pelsterstraat 15; the Cascade garage near the station at Cascadeplein is good value at €12 per day. To avoid congestion, driving daytrippers are advised to use the Park & Ride system (P+R); approaching from the south along the A28 highway, park for free at the Haren P+R station and take the N°22 Citybus to the central station and the Grote Markt; buses depart every 10 minutes, and the €6 return ticket paid in cash to the driver is valid for up to 5 people.
