Not your ordinary archeological museum, this one. Musée archéologique de Grenoble is found in the old Church of St Laurent, itself constructed on the remains of the Gallo-Roman Necropolis way back in the day. The museum was established in 1846 and has been a national treasure ever since, one of those great French houses of history and culture that doffs its cap to the architectural, social, spiritual and religious history of this magnificent country. Don’t miss this one.
