This organisation was established in England by British steam train enthusiasts in order to support and thus preserve the last steam-powered commuter service in the world. Through their unique relationship and collaboration with Polish Railways they are able to offer their members actual footplate courses that include training and a guaranteed number of rides, where you’ll be the one driving the train up to rattling speeds of 100km/hr. These courses - unique in the world - have largely contributed to the restoration of the Wolsztyn depot, the continued maintenance of the steam trains, and keeping this historic steam service on the tracks. Becoming a member is not difficult, and simply requires paying a €58 new member fee (plus course fees). Course dates and fees can be found on their website, and include accommodation at the Wolsztyn station house.
Due to constant changes in Coronavirus restrictions, the current operations of the Wolsztyn Experience are limited and may not be continuing in the future. Read more here.
