Built in 1687 and located in in the northern city centre of Gothenburg, Gullberget, a redoubt Skansen Lejonet served many purposes over the long years of its existence. Along with its twin Skansen Kronan, it was built by a Swedish military engineer Erik Jönsson Dahlberg to help protect Gothenburg from the Danes. Nowadays, it is run by an Götiska förbund and used for private events such as anniversaries or weddings.
