Don't believe what you read elsewhere (even if it's elsewhere in In Your Pocket), finding the definitive 'best burger' in any city is just as likely as finding a pot of gold at the end of a rainbow. However, we feel perfectly comfortable proclaiming the burgers at the Butchers BBQ Cafe in Surfers Paradise as the most underrated in town, and there'll be a spot waiting for them on the Top 20 Burgers on the Gold Coast clickbait feature that we'll inevitably write some day. They've also got great value breakfasts that double as reliable hangover cures and lots of other grilled wonders. What's more, the food isn't even the best thing about this place, that distinction goes to the affable Italian owner who left his position as a chef at a Michelin star restaurant in Rome over a decade ago to set up shop on the Gold Coast. And the name isn't just for show, there's also an actual butcher shop too, so you can cook up meat just (or at least almost) as tasty at your own BBQ.
