When people quit their day jobs in order to put all their energy and spirit into opening a place of their own, the results tend to be something genuinely appealing, and the Paddock Bakery is no exception. Set in the premises of a renovated old weatherboard house, a couple of blocks from the beach on a mixed industrial and residential street, vintage chairs and tables dot the front yard, and dining here feels more like visiting a (very popular) friend for brunch than eating out. Of course we wouldn't be regulars if the food wasn't outstanding, with the changing menu always offering our tastebuds something new and exciting to try.
