A firm favourite with generations of Glasgow children and their parents. The museum uses its collections of vehicles and models to tell the story of transport by land and sea, with a unique Glasgow flavour. Here you’ll find the oldest surviving pedal cycle and the finest collection in the world of Scottish-built cars. The Clyde Room’s stunning collection of some 250 models of ships built on the banks of the Clyde exemplifies the important role the River Clyde played in the history of shipbuilding and naval architecture. Taking a trip down memory lane in the museum’s Kelvin Street is a joy. An enchanting recreation of a late 1930s cobbled Glasgow street with shop fronts full of home bakery from yester year and toys that kids would still love to get their hands on today. A delight. Its collection of old trams and trolleybuses has elevated walkways allowing you a good old nosey into the top decks. For those who never thought transport could be interesting and fun, it’s a must.
