A little further out than other accommodation listed but well worth a mention. This stunning Georgian town house in the heart of Paisley’s Oakshaw conservation area, and near Glasgow Airport, is a real find. Originally built as a cotton or silk merchant’s home around 1795 at the height of Paisley’s textile boom, its sense of space and Regency style reflects the confidence and prosperity of the age. There’s been little altered to the original design, with the 200 year-old ash tree still sitting majestically in the front courtyard. All 15 rooms are opulent, mixing old style charm with cutting-edge decadence. Working fireplaces and claw-footed baths cosy up with plasma screens and broadband. Relax in the tranquil, walled lush gardens and forget about those museums for just five minutes. The fine dining restaurant will have a top-end Glasgow chef taking the helm. A perfect retreat for visiting both Paisley and Glasgow.
