Exceptionally-wholesome Polish cuisine cooked from fresh local ingredients, served in a cosy modern lodge interior. Definately worth going the extra mile for!
Tłusta Kaczka in Gdynia Orłowo.
In our opinion, this is one of the best options for homely local gastronomy in both Gdynia and the Tri-City area at large. Going back to basics with Polish Cuisine may sound like something that would also compromise the venue, atmosphere and service of a restaurant professing such a mind-set. However, this is absolutely not the case here! It's beautiful wooden interior and furnishings that perfectly-balance traditional rustic with modern-design (we appreciate the 3D-jigsaw Moosehead trophies in place of the real thing!). Most importantly, however, the food is aromatic, colourful, made from fresh ingredients and absolutely delectable. Venison comes straight from the Kashubian forests, mushrooms from nearby forests, the bacon is home-smoked as well as the sausages, and the herbs are picked straight from the restaurant garden. The highlight of the menu is their housedish: Duck for two stuffed with apples, garlic and marjoram served with fried potatoes with marjoram, red cabbage and cranberry and currant sauce. Yum! Everything on their menu is wholesome and comforting, somehow enhanced by the cosy interiors. Highly recommended!!!
