This is the big one. Arka and Lechia have rarely got to meet over the decades what with them often in different leagues. In fact the first top league derby only took place in 2008. The atmosphere will be tense and you can expect to widen your vocabulary of Polish swear words quite considerably over the course of the evening. There will be a heavy police presence for the game despite this being the last under the current away fan ban for these match-ups. That said, seasoned football fans shouldn't avoid this and many will be surprised at the number of families attending the game and the increasingly civilised rivalry.

As for the game itself, Arka will be looking to make Lechia's disappointing season even worse by pushing them closer to the automatic relegation places. While the Gdynia club is having a pretty good season (they've already won the Super Cup and finished the regular season comfortably in mid-table), their Tri-city neighbours from Gdansk have been having a nightmare time. That was compensated for somewhat by a thumping they gave Arka in the last game of the regular season (Lechia won 4-2 having led 4-0 after 35 mins). With both teams now in the play-offs in the bottom half of the table, the prize is survival and Lechia still have a lot to do to ensure theirs.
