Back in the 80s, this place opened up on Gdynia's main street and served its own version of 'pizza', specifically a huge bread-base with ketchup in lieu of tomato purée and cheese on top. And so it was...Pizzeria Gdynianka was Gdynia's first pizza restaurant! Even now, it's undoubtedly great value per portion and your average economically-minded Pole during PRL Communism would have seen this as too-good-to-be-true. Amazingly, today their following is still as strong as ever and even local Gen-Y kids, whose parents were probably loyal customers, have a fondness for eating out there. Others, like yours truly, can't understand the appeal and opt for Maka i Kawa next door!
