Nope, they’re not earrings. Cufflinks, dear, golden cufflinks. Goes on the end of your shirt sleeves, makes you look smart and rich. You’re staring at some of the 11 000 fashion and other items archaeologists found when digging this place up back in 1997. It used to be one of the most, if not the most, important buildings of 13th century medieval Galway. They collected taxes here, carried out the law, threw fancy parties and basically kept the whole town together. When in Latin quarter, worth a stop, they’ve made it nice and informative, and since they’ve got the gold cufflinks anyway, it’s free entry.
