Famed for its mindboggling selection of cakes, ice creams, lokum (ie Turkish delights), baklava and other delectable desserts, the family-run Petek has been a fixture of Famagusta's culinary scene since the late 1970s. The flagship branch opposite Desdemona Park first opened in 1983, and has been one of the most popular places in the old town to grab a bite, enjoy a traditional Turkish coffee or tea or satisfy an incessant sweet tooth ever since.
A slightly overwhelming choice of western and Turkish dishes is presented in a tome-like menu that is conspicuously sans prices, so you can expect to pay a bit of a premium for the experience, but that's not something one should worry about whilst on holiday! Portions also err on the side of ginormous, so rest assured you'll get your lira's worth. And even if you don't have room for dessert, it's worth popping into the exceedingly photogenic patisserie proper downstairs on your way out.
