A 12th Century battle between the Normans and the Danes earned this picture-postcard pub its grizzly moniker. Built above the eponymous stream, the pub's location at Howth's DART station makes it easily accessible from Dublin city. And its seaside setting extends to the menu which includes freshly-caught oysters and mussels, seafood chowder, and seafood platters to share. Trad music sessions and weekend DJs add to the pub's great atmosphere. And the quaint 'garden bar' vista is particularly pretty in summer when its flower baskets swell with colourful blooms.
