Scenic Ireland photographic book
more than a year agoThe books are the successful collaboration of Ireland’s foremost landscape photographer, Chris Hill, and his friend and colleague Colin McCadden, who not only travelled with Chris on his many trips around Ireland, but has also written the text to accompany his breathtaking images.
In various planned trips over a three-year period, in a total of over 150 days & nights, they travelled in a Campervan, visiting each of Ireland’s 32 counties, reflecting the magnificent scenery and historic sites along the way and often reaching some of the most remote parts of the country. More than 25,000 miles were covered, with Chris taking over 30,000 photographs, the very finest of which have been selected for publication.
Helicopter flights were also commissioned to augment their road marathon, providing unique aerial photo opportunities, and the end results really do bring out the very best of Ireland’s remarkably diverse landscapes.
Aside from landscapes and buildings, aspects of Ireland’s complex history are also captured, where Chris has recorded Stone Age megalithic structures that are older than the Pyramids of Giza, the remains of ornate monasteries and abbeys which sprang up after St Patrick brought Christianity to the island in the 5th century, and magnificent medieval castles that were built by the Anglo-Normans in the 12th and 13th centuries.
Relive your travels, or inspire your dreams of Ireland, with these beautiful hard-back books available online, together with the photos, at Chris’s website www.scenicireland.com.
