On a series of hills separating Meath and Cavan's drumlins and lakes stands Ireland's second largest Megalithic cemetery (only Carrowmore in Sligo is bigger) where you can find Stone Age art on surrounding boulders. You can actually enter the tombs here once you get the key (follow the signposts at the car park), but if you don't like going underground, the breathtaking views from Sliabh na Caillighe, literally the Hills Of The Witches, will be enough to enchant you. As with Newgrange you can see evidence here of solar alignments and mysterious carved designs. Bus Eireann provides tours, but best of all, admission is free. Pictures: Heritage Ireland
