Just off Dame Street in the trendy Temple Bar area is the IFI. Here you will find not only a cinema but a bar, restaurant and bookshop all of which are usually busy and full of chatter. This old Quaker Meeting House was transformed in the 1990s to become a cinema and a film archive centre for Ireland. Independent and foreign language films are usually exclusively screened here. The sleek venue also runs and co-hosts a number of film festivals throughout the year, most notably the Dublin International Film Festival. Special seasons showcase international cinema, making the IFI a great place to see diverse and intelligent films and mingle with fellow movie buffs.
