If you fancy getting away from it all, this is the place to do it - a national park covering 3,000 hectares, with only the Twelve Pins mountain range, bogs, heaths, woodlands and the occasional Connemara pony to keep you company. It's ruggedly beautiful and with mapped-out trails is perfect for hikers of every ability and fitness level. But if you just want a day out with the family, the Visitor Centre has a picnic area and playground in pretty much the nicest surroundings imaginable.
