Yes, it's now linked to the mainland by a bridge, but Achill Island is still very much an island, and a beautiful one at that. Miles of gorgeous beaches, spectacular cliffs and mountains, mean there's lots to see and do. The Atlantic Coastal Drive is breathtaking, the 16th century Tower of Granuaile, or Grace O'Malley, our Pirate Queen, is fascinating, the water sports and activities energising, the arts and crafts inspiring. The curious visitor can check out the spookily deserted village and abandoned mine. But this is also the perfect place to simply do nothing at all except relax and take in the unique atmosphere of an island, off an island, off the west coast of the continent.
