Charting the history of painting and sculpture in the city and beyond this charming little gallery has one or two surprises amidst the usual dreary oil paintings and bronzes. Of particular note is Wilhelm Trübner’s hilarious 1877 study in oils of a dog with a string of sausages on its nose, and one or two examples of work by some of the minor 19th-century Expressionists.
