Few Napoleonic battles carry as much importance as the Battle of Austerlitz, which took place just 25km or so away from Brno. Many believe this to be Napoleon’s greatest victory, a tactical masterpiece that saw the French overcome the much larger combined powers of Russia and the Holy Roman Empire. The site of the battle is a popular tourist destination today, where history sits in the air waiting for the annual re-enactments, as monuments and memorials pay homage to that famous fight.
