We’re not supposed to pick favourites within our cities, what with being impartial and all, but it doesn’t get much better than Cetățuia Park. The walk up isn’t the easiest in the world, but we’re more than happy to stroll up for the sheer romance that is on offer throughout. The fortress in question was built in the early 18th century by the occupying Austrians in order to house local government but it later became a prison, such is the historic order of such spots, before becoming the image of change that it is today. The history is one thing but the modern views dominate, and you’ll struggle to find a more charming vista of Cluj than from up here.
